Dramaturgy in the Electronic Realm
1999 - 2006
Behind the creation of image worlds, sound
spaces, bodies of text and time/space continua, we find those
who create art and music as well as authors. However, in the
(interactive) audio-visual area, one must also consider
construction, generating and programming processes, if the true
nature of binary media is to be captured. Today, structures can
be constructed, which do not follow precise specifications. The
question arises, as to which worlds we create with them.

The technical concept of
“information” is given more content and is enlarged
by aesthetic aspects. In addition, a model for a dramaturgy of
information for the world wide web is presented. The
construction of image worlds, sound spaces, bodies of text,
time/space continua, various interaction models, contents,
themes and many other things become here the foundation for the
work with multi-medial formats. Space, time and objects are
inseparably linked together and the dream of cyberspace is
immersive and complete. It consists wholly of information that
has taken on substance – bodies of information, text,
images, sounds and art.
The medial centre of gravity is the world
wide web, but many of processes that are outlined are also
valid for working in other binary media. The book consists of
three parts and twelve chapters and individual modules relating
to the work with multi-media in the world wide web are each
discussed on two pages. As a result, a kind of reference work
came into being.
